After a 16 year career in adult education I took an introduction to horticulture course at Capel Manor, in 2008-9, followed by WRAGS training and a diploma in Garden Design at Capel Manor; both during my time at Garden Associates. At GA for 5 years, I was in a team looking after private, communal gardens in London squares. I then became the HBGTP trainee at Chiswick House & Gardens before moving to RBG Kew in 2015 where I worked as a Botanical Horticulturist with responsibility for the Great Broad Walk Borders for 7 years. In Oct’22, I moved into a hort support role which involved support of the gardens’ teams and working with suppliers and Kew’s Plant Records and Plant health teams to develop systems around the LCD (BRAHMS). In Aug’23, I took up my current role at HUC and I volunteer at Horatio’s Garden, London & SE one day a week. I love being in the LGN which offers opportunities to share knowledge, skills and experience, learn and network with other horticulturists of all species!

I’ve been here for 30 years running the garden and slowly making it into the creation it is today; a miniature 12.5 acre country estate in the middle of London. I joined the LGN because I think it’s important for professionals to network, share experience, encourage others and learn. I think the LGN does all these things. My desert island plant would be Nandina domestica- evergreen, interesting foliage, flower and berries. It is trouble-free, growing almost anywhere.

Since then, I have had a few different horticulture jobs including a management internship at Anna Tasca Lanza cooking school in Sicily and Gardener in Charge at Strawberry Hilll House & Garden. I joined the LGN because I love how horticulture brings people together and the discussions we can have around it. My passion is the interaction between people and plants and how they can elevate our wellbeing and general quality of life. This is something I relish in my role as Head Gardener at Horatio's Garden London and South East. It's a national charity that builds beautiful gardens at spinal injury centres, improving the lives of those effected by spinal injury and facing long stays in hospital. I am currently a Royal Parks Assistant Park Manager, a London in Bloom judge and RHS plant trial judge. I am a keen advocate and supporter of horticultural training through apprenticeships and outreach projects such as the 'Future Gardeners' initiative. As a Londoner, spending most of my childhood in our public parks, I am firm believer in the benefits that access to green spaces can bring to the improvement of people's health and wellbeing. I am happy to be a committee member of the LGN, helping to create opportunities to bring people together from the horticultural industry.

I joined the LGN because I think it’s important for gardeners to share their experiences and knowledge, and work together for better public and private green space across the city.

The floating gardens, is a barge community of roof top gardens representing a unique sustainable planting scheme within a mild riverside microclimate. Following a career in publishing, I trained in horticulture at the Inner Temple Garden and RBG Kew to pursue my interest in landscape and planting design. During my RHS Master of Horticulture studies I took a particular interest in studying beneficial environmental services of urban forests and graduated with distinction in 2022. I am passionate about the adaptation of horticultural practices as well as the creation of planting schemes for the current and future climate in order to strengthen sensible, resourceful and sustainable methods for city greening. I joined the LGN because I think it is vital to create a resourceful network for horticulturist to share knowledge, skills and contacts, to provide learning guidance to future horticulturists and to encourage engagement within our industry.

My love for connecting people through visual storytelling led me to work in the city in my second career as a graphic designer. But I have found a way to combine these passions by returning to the garden. And now I am currently training as a horticultural student on the RBG Kew Apprenticeship. Joining the LGN is one way I hope to share horticultural knowledge and the different stories that belong to every gardener, and ultimately create positive relationships between people and nature by gardening in the city.

I'm originally from Italy and my passion and admiration for British Garden History and Horticulture brought me to move to the UK in 2015. After a few years of experience in Landscaping and garden makeover, I was fortunate to be appointed as a Trainee Gardener at Aberglasney Gardens in South-west Wales, where I spent one year working and training in all aspects of Horticulture. The experience gave me a solid foundation that I brought with me to London, and It is so exciting to be in my position in this fantastic city with endless opportunities, including joining the London Garden Network Committee.

I’m a Landscape Architect and garden contractor. Working on projects such as Chelsea Square, Thomas’s London Day Schools and a multitude of residential projects. Particularly interested in circular design, plant ecologies and anything in the Brassiopsis genus!

I moved to London from Bristol, pursuing further education and new opportunities to connect with other horticulturists. I come from a science background and have worked in all sorts of interesting laboratories, but wanted to specialise more in the growing and nurturing of plant collections. For several years I ran a tropical botanical house located inside an aquarium, where I could also indulge my biology background teaching people about aquatic ecosystems. I first got involved with LGN to help run the seminars, and have stayed because I enjoy helping people to connect and share knowledge.
